    How clueless can you get?
Just encountered a one-of-a-kind yahoo auctioneer in my attempt to get a PSP game before my 10 day family trip to China... something to beat the boredom on those long coach trips... I left him a question on the auction and left my contact number. He SMS'ed a few hours later and our SMS exchange went as follows:

Clueless:  I offered you for $40 but you must collect at Marsiling "insert address". Today only.

Me: Ok, play-asia.com is selling at $45 new with free delivery. Can you reduce the price, say $32, I will cover my own transport. Your auction listed at $39 anyway, not $40.

Clueless: $40 today only. Another buyer coming. 1st come 1st sell. (Yeah right, he thinks I am 5 yr old?)

Me: Since the other guy on his way I will let him have it. What's your yahoo id? (didn't want to confuse this retard with the other sellers on yahoo)

Clueless: SOLD OUT LIAO, you want I can order from overseas (I'm getting annoyed at this point)

Me: Look, I don't wanna play games with you. (Obviously there wasn't a 2nd buyer) My last offer is $35, today only (hah! 2 can play at that game)

    Clueless: $41 now.

Me: Look man, I didn't want to buy it at $40, what makes you think I will buy it at $41. I am gonna order from play-asia.com. Cya.

Clueless: (about 30 mins later) $42 now.

Me: Stop sending sms to me. (while ordering over play-asia.com website)

    <To be continued?????????????>

What's the problem with this dude??? Retarded or just infantile??? The only reason I am asked over yahoo is because play-asia may not deliver before I leave for China but this guy just gets on my nerves. Well I guess the tactics worked on his kindergarten friends or something,,, At this point, I think I wouldn't even mind paying full retail price from Singapore shops, anything but buying from him...

Anyway, the game I was looking at is Daikoukai Jidai IV, or Uncharted Waters IV (ahhh.... that one) from Koei. Nostalgia for many of us, yeah? For those interested, it's available on both the PSP and Gameboy DS, perfect for travelling don't you think. Sad thing is, it only comes in Japanese version. I did look at Sid Meier's Pirates! too but too bad that one only featured the Carribean, while the UW series always feature the whole world... Exploration game... hello??? Maybe Sid should get a clue too...

    On healthcare...
Like eddax, I have just went thru the session of "enlightenment" that isthe norm when watch a mike moore piece. As usual, much to chew on and this time round, mike pull out all the stops to tug at your heartstrings, as they were. I actually felt this was more well done than "Bowling for Columbine", but somehow a few concerns were nagging me at the back of my mind...

For risk of sounding like a moore fanboy, I generally apllaud at his efforts to bring issues to light which the general populous of the "mighty" US has usually skirted or the powers that be over the pacific has spun with a skill which woul make any nightclub DJ green with envy.

But this time, this time, moore seems to be dumbing it down if you like... lighter on the facts and heavier on the human drama. He made interesting points but sometimes I can't escape the feeling that he trying to pull a fast one on you.

Case in point,  European countries like England and France enjoy state-run health care but the fact that they are swimming in taxes was merely glossed over. Well you got happy people who pay a pittance for healthcare and pretty wealthy doctors to boot. What's the catch? Taxes through the roof to support an overly-idealistic welfare system? Mike didn't make it complete on that end.

My bigest beef though, was using Cuba in all that past-foe, present-friend crap, I am sure the Havana health institution seen its fair share of Americano tourist dollars to know what is the correct thing to say in front of the camera. For all the vaunted claims of universal medicine claimed by moore, Cuba was ranked world #39 by WHO in 2000, as opposed to the pathetic #37 of the US... funny how moore fails to mention that. Unless of course 7 years have done miracles in Cuba, in which case, my bad.

And on this, I must actually admit that the supreme rulers of Singapore is doing a good job in this area by being ranked an incredible #6 by WHO in 2000. Tainted doubt still exists though, can't really fault me though, having lost a father to the local hospital while you are 7 kinda does that to you. As it were, the ball better not be dropped on this one.

    On Scientology...

If anyone reads this, know that my upgrade to Windows Vista has made me forget about LJ for a while... I did remember eventually but didn't really feel like writing anything until the above topics came up, oddly enough from a episode of Southpark and Mike Moore's latest shock fest (at least for Americans) that is "Sicko" as refered to by

    [info]eddax

    First on Scientology:
Ok this one is a no-brainer. Most of us probably heard about it but how many of us actually bothered to find out what it is? Well, I heard, I didn't care. Thank goodness for Sothpark (episode "Trapped in the Closet").

Well actually there was 2 main themes: That Tom Cruise and John Travolta (also hinted at R.Kelly?) were long-time closeted gays and Scientology. Well, clearly I don't really give a rat's ass about the shortest angmo samurai and the geriatric postergramps for major hair gel makers.

As I am sure many fans of the SP series know, matt and trey usually get their facts right despite having the penchant of liberal doses necrophilia and scatology (just to name a few), well this one got nominated for the Emmys, and it worries me as a fellow human being of how gulliable we have become as a species.

For those who don't already know, the following is the basis of their religion / philosophy (HAH!):
"Among these advanced teachings, one episode revealed to those who reach OT level III is the story of Xenu and his Galactic Confederacy.Scientologists have argued that the published accounts of the Xenu story and other teachings are distortions of their practice, presented out of context for the purpose of ridiculing their religion.[47]Xenu (sometimes Xemu) is introduced as an alien ruler of the "Galactic Confederacy" who, 75 million years ago, brought billions of people to Earth in spacecraft resembling Douglas DC-8 airliners, stacked them around volcanoes and blew them up with hydrogen bombs. Their souls then clustered together and stuck to the bodies of the living. Scientologists believe the alien souls continue to do this today, causing a variety of physical ill-effects in modern-day humans. Hubbard called these clustered spirits "Body Thetans", and the advanced levels place considerable emphasis on isolating them and neutralizing their ill effects.["

WTF!! How stupid can people get???

We would all like to think of ourselves as different from the rest of the world, but in that respect, aren't we all the same?

If you look at the older folks in your family, chances are that's the code they live by. To do things cos others do, for better or for worse, in prosperity and in poverty. And you got to wonder why? Is there some sort of profound wisdom that we have yet to grasp? Or is there a mechanism in our head which goes snap one day and says,

It's time to get with the program, ol' boy."

You know what? You're right!" and you live happily (or not) ever after...

Then you have to think, do the cumulative responsibilities and obligations in life make us more afraid to speak up, to stand out? For fear that this unwanted attention may bring down some karmic retribution from the heavens to us and ours?

It's funny how life goes, bcos one fine day down the road when we have nothing to lose in life, we are suddenly free to be different once more...

At what point in life does the urge to differentiate oneself lives again?

Anyway, feel free to comment on them, let me know if they strike a chord in you somewhere, or whatever.

Tell your friends, whoever, if it moves you in some way, good or bad.

I will post pictures as often as it moves me. Though I don't think I can do it everyday since I go shooting like, say, once a fortnight?

My hope is that somehow, these photos will, from time to time, remind us to take a good look at the world we live in and more importantly, within ourselves...

P.S. BTW, try not to go into flikr to look at my photostreams... spoils the suspense...
